Dr Hana Abu-Hassan

Dr. Hana Abu-Hassan completed her general practice training in the South of England in 2012 having studied medicine at the University of Jordan, where she spent some of her clinical years in the USA, between Cornell’s New York Presbyterian Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital.

Hana is experienced in all areas of general practice and has a special interest in mental health and chronic disease management. She has a comprehensive approach in the diagnosis and management of her patients’ acute and chronic diseases. As well as at Basil Street Practice, Hana works in the NHS in both urgent care and general practice.

Hana also specialises in global mental health and humanitarian medicine including refugee health and torture survivors. She is a consultant for several non-governmental organisations in these fields. In 2020 she was voted as one of 365 inspirational women in the Arab World by Women in Business Arabia.

Hana is an academic and active in publications and research in the fields of general practice, family therapy and global mental health. She has co-authored over 20 publications in books and peer reviewed journals and presented in over 20 national and international medical conferences. Hana is also a voluntary assistant professor at the University of California San Diego, Department of Family Medicine and Public Health. Hana supervises medical students in clinical settings and is a trainer for GP trainees at Imperial College NHS Trust Hospitals and other settings.

Hana is bilingual, speaking English and Arabic fluently. Her experiences working abroad have exposed her to different cultures and approaches to medicine. She is currently completing her training in functional medicine, focusing in longevity. She uses these techniques to offer holistic management in both therapeutic and preventive medicine.

Hana enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and is an avid art enthusiast.
